Rope laces are made from braided nylon or polyester with an elastic core. This build resists fraying and keeps knots tight under repeated use. Under normal wear, expect a rope pair to last many months and often years, depending on activity and care.

Use these clear steps to get a secure fit, tidy look, and easy on-and-off:

1. Prep the Pair: Align both lace tips and feed them evenly through the bottom eyelets so the lengths match.

2. Criss-Cross Basic: Cross ends over and thread up through the next eyelets. Repeat until you reach the top.

3. Straight Bar (Clean Look): Start with the lace inside the bottom eyelets, run straight across, then feed up on the opposite side. Repeat.

4. Heel Lock for Stability: Before the last eyelets, create a loop on each side. Cross the laces through the opposite loops, then pull them tight to secure the heel.
   

5. Tuck or Double Knot. Tuck the excess behind the tongue or double-knot for extended use and active activities.

6. Style Tweak. Swap patterns or widths to change sneaker style without sacrificing fit.

First, remove laces from shoes and place them in a mesh laundry bag. Machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle to protect the elastic core and preserve color vibrancy. Do not use bleach.

After washing, air dry flat away from direct sunlight. Do not tumble dry or apply heat, as high temperatures can weaken fibers and reduce strength.

For small stains, use mild soap and a soft brush, then rinse thoroughly. Also, store laces loosely coiled in a dry place to avoid kinks and preserve shape.
