How Do You Find the Right Shoelace Length?
There are three ways, from most to least accurate:
- Measure your current laces if they fit well.
- Look up your sneaker in the chart above.
- Count the eyelet pairs on one side of your shoe and match them to the chart.
Don't go by shoe size. Two shoes in the same size can have different eyelet counts and need different laces.
How Do You Measure Your Existing Shoelaces?
- Remove one lace from your shoe.
- Straighten it out without stretching it.
- Measure from tip to tip, including both plastic or metal tips.
- Pick the closest length. If it barely tied, go one size up. If it left long tails, go one size down.
Does Lacing Style Affect Shoelace Length?
Yes. Heel-lock lacing and lacing every eyelet to the top use extra lace, so you may need one size longer. Skipping the top eyelets uses less, so you may need one size shorter.
What Shoelace Length Do You Need for Different Types of Shoes?
Low-Top Sneakers
Usually 45" or 54". The Nike Dunk Low and Air Force 1 Low take 54", while the Adidas Samba OG and Air Max 90 take 45".
Mid-Top Sneakers
54" for 6–7 eyelet pairs, or 63" for 7–8 eyelet pairs.
High-Top Sneakers
Usually 54" to 72". The Jordan 1 High takes 72" for a tied look or 63" for a loose look. The Dunk High and Air Force 1 High take 63", and Converse Chuck Taylor high tops take 54".
Running and Athletic Shoes
Most take 45" or 54". The On Cloud 5 takes 36", On Cloudmonster and Cloudsurfer take 45", ASICS Gel-Kayano and Gel-Lyte III take 54", the Adidas Ultra Boost takes 41", and the NMD takes 30". If you use heel-lock lacing and your laces barely tie, go one size up.
Boots
Count every eyelet and hook pair you lace through, then use the chart. Boots often need longer laces than sneakers, so measuring your original laces is the safest bet. Shop boot laces.

How Do You Choose Between Two Sizes?
Some eyelet counts fit two sizes. For example, 6 eyelet pairs can take 45" or 54".
- Go longer for wide shoes, wide feet, a bigger bow, or lacing all the way to the top.
- Go shorter for narrow shoes, a small bow, tight lacing, or skipping the top eyelets.
How Can You Tell If Your Laces Are Too Long or Too Short?
Too long: big bow loops, tails that drag on the ground, or extra lace you have to wrap around the shoe. Go one size down.
Too short: the lace can't reach the top eyelets, the bow is tiny, you have to over-tighten to tie it, or the knot keeps slipping. Go one size up.

Sizing varies from shoe to shoe. Please use this chart as a rough estimate. For best results, please measure the length of your original laces. If you are between two sizes using our chart, we recommend choosing the shorter length for most applications.
Please note that our laces can sometimes have a 1"-2" variance in length due to the slight elastic properties in the materials used. This is more commonly seen in longer lace lengths (54"+) but may also be present in other lengths.
